Conquer the Highest Peak of Armenia !

The highest mountain of Armenia, Aragats, has four summits (North summit - 4090 m, West summit -4080 m, East summit -3916 m and South summit - 3879 m). Between the peaks, a 350-meter deep crater stretches for three kilometers.  Climate is changing by altitude: it’s cool in near-summit zone, and it is cold even in summer on the summits. Weather is unpredictable and often dramatic; with snow possible at any time multiply layers.

The high uplands provide grazing in summer for shepherd, as well as the clear air for Armenia’s observatories. The rocks, wildflowers and views make the ascent of the Aragats unforgettable.
The western uplands of the Aragats, a bleakly beautiful landscape of volcanic boulders and green, overlooking the Ararat Valley, are dotted with villages, each athwart a stream gorge.

Thousands of fresh water springs run down the slopes to create several brooks. Mountain cold lakes of Qari, Amberd and Lesing splash Aragats’ icy banks.

Cultural traces, irrigation canals and so called “vishap” fish-like steles (that point to worship of water in ancient times) based near water sources are preserved on the slopes of the mountain. There are also ruins of cyclopean fortresses and medieval castles, monasteries and churches, as well tomb fields, cemeteries and other historically significant places spread all around the massive.
We offer tours to Aragats’ historical sites and special extreme tours for those who wish to try in alpine climbing. A base camp is located at Lake Kari lich (Stone Lake).
